Candidate Kimberly Newton

Hello, I’m Kimberly Newton, and I am proud to serve as a current member of the Sandridge SD 172 Board of Education. As an incumbent seeking re-election, I bring passion, experience, and an unwavering commitment to the continued success of our students, staff, and community.

Proud Public Servant: I have dedicated my professional career to serving others as a 911 dispatch technician. This role has taught me the importance of staying calm under pressure, solving problems, and prioritizing the needs of the people I serve—skills I bring to my role on the school board.

Passionate About Students: I love our students and believe in creating opportunities that allow them to grow and thrive. In my free time, I’ve volunteered to support 8th graders and served as a science fair judge, ensuring our children have memorable and enriching experiences.

Deeply Connected to the Community: Residing in the heart of our community, I am committed to contributing through acts of service. Whether it’s volunteering for school activities or supporting strategic initiatives, I am invested in making Sandridge a place where families and children feel supported and empowered.

Experienced and Skilled Leader: As a proud graduate of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a strong work ethic to the table. I have attended multiple board governance workshops and two joint conferences, equipping me with the tools to make sound decisions that benefit our schools.

Instrumental in Sandridge’s Growth: I was honored to assist in the planning the design of the new Sandridge, ensuring we created a space where our students can flourish. From supporting school improvement initiatives to participating in strategic planning, I am committed to moving our district forward.

Advocate for Students and Staff: At my core, I am an advocate for both students and staff. I believe in fostering a supportive environment where every individual feels seen, heard, and valued. Together, we can continue to build a district that inspires success for all.

Committed to Excellence: This isn’t just about serving on the board—it’s about building a future that ensures our students achieve their highest potential. I am ready to change the narrative of Sandridge to make Sandridge SD 172 a beacon of excellence in education.
